The Invisalign Process at Nest
01.
Consult with Our Vancouver Invisalign Dentist
You’ll head on over to our gorgeous Fraser Street dental studio and meet with Dr. Sonia Sahi, a general dentist practicing orthodontics. She’ll examine your teeth and bite and study your diagnostic records to make sure you’re a good candidate for Invisalign. She’ll then walk you through her diagnosis and the proposed treatment plan before answering any questions you have. A team member will chat with you about your insurance, the Invisalign cost and our flexible financing options.
02.
Create a 3D Model of Your Mouth
We’ll use our iTero® Element Scanner to take quick, comfortable digital scans of your teeth (no messy putty and tray impressions here!). The scans will be used to create a computerized 3D model of your mouth. Dr. Sahi will move each individual tooth in your mouth directly on the model, which allows her to design a new smile that complements your facial features. She’ll even be able to show you a virtual representation of what your smile will look like when you finish treatment.
03.
Get Your Custom Invisalign Aligners
Dr. Sahi will send her treatment plan to the Invisalign lab and a series of custom, clear aligners will be fabricated just for you. You’ll swing by our studio and pick them up. For the best results, wear your Invisalign aligners for 20 to 22 hours per day, only taking them out to brush and floss your teeth, eat, and drink anything aside from plain water.
04.
Change Your Aligners Every One to Two Weeks
Depending on your treatment plan, you’ll switch to a new set of Invisalign aligners every one to two weeks. As you make your way through the series, your new smile will gradually take shape. To ensure your treatment is progressing according to plan, you’ll come in for a check-up every six to eight weeks. Since Invisalign aligners don’t require adjustments like braces, these visits are quick and easy (who doesn’t like having an excuse to just enjoy the Nest experience?).
05.
Reveal Your New Smile
When you take your final set of Invisalign aligners out, you’ll have a brand new smile to show for it. In order to maintain your results for life, Dr. Sahi will create custom retainers for you. Wearing retainers will hold your teeth in their new positions while your bite locks into place.

Benefits of Invisalign
Discreet
Invisalign aligners are made from a clear, BPA-free thermoplastic material. They’re virtually invisible and most people won’t be able to tell you’re wearing them.
01.
Comfy and Convenient
The smooth aligners won’t irritate your mouth like braces can and don’t require adjustments. Since you’ll take them out to eat, drink, and brush and floss, there are no food restrictions and oral hygiene is a breeze.
02.
Creates a Straighter Smile
Invisalign can treat the same orthodontic issues that braces can. Treatment will give you straighter teeth and a healthier, more functional bite. You’ll get a confident smile and improved oral health.

How does Invisalign work?
Invisalign involves a series of removable, clear aligners. Dr. Sahi plans out your Invisalign treatment on a computerized, 3D model of your mouth, moving each individual tooth into its ideal position. The Invisalign lab then fabricates custom aligners based on Dr. Sahi’s specifications.
The aligners fit over the teeth like super comfortable, almost undetectable mouthguards. They exert gentle, steady pressure to shift the teeth into place. Each set of Invisalign aligners is designed to achieve specific tooth movements. So, as you work through the series, your smile gradually takes shape bit by bit.
What can Invisalign fix?
While it will depend on your individual case and needs, Invisalign can often be used for:
- Crowding
- Spacing
- Overbite (deep bite)
- Underbite
- Overjet teeth (protruding teeth)
- Open bite
- Crossbite
What are the advantages of Invisalign?
Comfortable
The aligners are smooth and custom-molded for the perfect fit. They don’t have brackets and wires, so they don’t cause irritation like braces can. You also don’t have to worry about getting cuts or abrasions if you get hit in the mouth while playing sports or doing any activity.
Effective
Thanks to advances in materials, digital treatment planning and auxiliaries like Invisalign attachments (discreet, tooth-colored buttons that are bonded to the teeth), Invisalign can often be just as effective as braces for addressing a range of orthodontic cases.
Virtually Invisible
Invisalign aligners are virtually invisible. Most people won’t be able to tell you’re wearing them, making them an excellent aesthetic option.
Convenient
Since the aligners are removable, you can brush and floss as you normally would and there are no food restrictions. Check-ups are quick and easy and treatment will have minimal interference in your day-to-life. You can take your aligners out to wear a mouthguard while playing sports or to play a wind instrument, allowing you to continue to do all of the things you love.
Does Invisalign hurt?
You won’t feel any real Invisalign pain during your treatment. However, when you first start treatment and, sometimes, after putting in a new Invisalign tray, you’ll experience mild tenderness and sensitivity. This just means your aligners are working. Discomfort only lasts for a day or two and is easily managed by sticking with softer foods and taking an over-the-counter pain reliever, if needed.
How long does Invisalign take to work?
How long Invialign takes to work depends on the orthodontic problem we’re treating and how severe it is. Since you wear and change your aligners at home, it’s also dependent on how well you stick to your treatment plan. The aligners can only work if you wear them, after all. Invisalign treatment generally lasts anywhere from six to 18 months. At your initial consultation, Dr. Sahi will be able to tell you how long your treatment will be after she examines you.
Are there any food restrictions with Invisalign?
Nope! Craving popcorn? Have at it. Want a piece of gum? Go for it. You’ll take your aligners out before you eat or drink anything aside from plain water, so there are no food restrictions. That said, never leave your aligners in when eating or drinking, because it can damage the aligners. Food and liquid can also get trapped underneath your aligners and sit against your teeth, increasing your risk of tooth decay.
How much does Invisalign cost?
Your Invisalign cost will depend on how severe your case is. At Nest, we’re all about transparent pricing. Once Dr. Sahi examines you and comes up with a treatment plan, we’ll let you know upfront exactly how much your Invisalign will cost, so there are no surprises. We accept most insurance plans and if your insurance has orthodontic coverage, we’ll work with you to make the most of your benefits and even file claims on your behalf. We also offer flexible financing options to ensure treatment suits your budget.
