A team member will take quick, comfortable digital dental impressions that Dr. Sahi will use to build a 3D model of your mouth. At this visit, she’ll show you a digital preview of what your new smile will look like.

Test Drive Your Veneers
Dr. Sahi will remove a thin layer of your surface enamel so that the veneers will fit. She’ll bond temporary veneers to your teeth to protect them. The temporaries will give you a chance to try out your restorations and make sure you’re thrilled with how they look and feel before having your permanent ones placed.

We’ll Get To Work
While you’re rocking your temporary veneers, your permanent porcelain veneers will be custom created based on the 3D model of your mouth. They’ll be the perfect size, shape and color. They’re even hand glazed to capture the translucency and detail of natural enamel.

She removes a small amount of enamel and then bonds the veneers to your teeth to change the color, size, shape and even position of your teeth. Veneers are an excellent way to completely transform your smile in a single procedure.

How are veneers created?
Our Vancouver cosmetic dentist, Dr. Sahi, has extensive training in cosmetic dentistry and smile design. We take digital scans of your teeth and the scans are used to create a 3D dental model. Dr. Sahi uses this model to design a smile that complements your facial features.
She’ll place temporary veneers based on her design so that you can test out your new grin and give her feedback. When you and Dr. Sahi agree on the plan, she’ll work closely with a trusted dental lab to mill your porcelain veneers. When the veneers are complete, they’re then hand glazed to give them beautiful, natural detail.
What are porcelain veneers made of?
Porcelain veneers are crafted from ceramic porcelain. Once they’re milled, they’re stained and glazed. Though veneers are thin, they’re strong and durable, providing resilience and strength similar to natural enamel.
How long do porcelain veneers last?
While, on average, porcelain veneers last for 15 years, with proper care, they can last for decades.
Does getting porcelain veneers hurt?
Getting porcelain veneers isn’t painful. Dr. Sahi only removes a small amount of your tooth enamel in order to get the perfect fit. She’ll give you local anesthesia first, so you’ll be numb for this part of the procedure. If you feel anxious about the process, we also offer sedation dentistry.
What’s the difference between veneers and dental crowns?
Dental crowns and porcelain veneers can both improve the appearance and function of your teeth. Porcelain veneers are extremely thin (about 1 mm in thickness) and are bonded to the front of your existing teeth. Dental crowns, on the other hand, are about 2 mm in thickness and cover the entire visible portion of your teeth.
Our Vancouver porcelain veneers are designed to fit while removing the least amount of enamel possible. They’re less invasive than crowns. For a crown, more of the tooth needs to be filed down prior to placement. If you have decay, a large filling or your tooth has a significant fracture or crack, a dental crown may be ideal. Since veneers need more tooth structure to support them, they’re a better option for those whose teeth are intact and are looking for cosmetic enhancements.
